Carlos René Aguilera Tamayo

Biography

Santiago de Cuba, 1965 


Carlos Rene Aguilera Tamayo graduated from the Superior Institute of Art (ISA) in Fine Arts in 1989. Painter, engraver and draftsman whose work has two fundamental chromatic proposals, both within a baroque illumination: one, with great contrast and economy of pigments which forms a monochromatic composition of blacks, whites and grays; and other, of with a wide use of colors. 


It`s important to highlight one of the most relevant features of this artist: his production by him is permeable by a constant technique experimentation and incessant introduction of codes and new themes. Carlos Rene Aguilera is a member of the UNEAC, he has carried out 32 individual exhibitions and he has participated in more than 100 collective exhibitions in Cuba and other 16 countries. 


He has also received more than twenty national and international prizes such as the Gold Medal in the 2th and 3th Central American and Caribbean Biennials of Painting (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic 1994 and 1996). His works by him are part of 12 public collections along with the works exhibited in the “Wifredo Lam” center, the “Emilio Bacardi” Museum, the National Arts Club of New York, Casa de Las Americas, and other as well as private collections
